Clara Baker Joins the GLC as Development Coordinator

Clara Baker joins The Good Life Center as Development Coordinator this month. She comes to GLC with more than 12 years experience in nonprofit work, including 10 years directing the Bass Harbor Memorial Library, serving on the board of Downeast GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network), and fundraising for MDI’s Island Housing Trust. Clara was born in Maine and raised in a home that emulated the Nearings’ sustainable practices and ideas about social justice. She studied English at McGill University and the University of Virginia and has a masters in American Studies, with a concentration in 19th century women’s literature. She and her family live in Southwest Harbor, and in her free time she enjoys visiting libraries, playing in Acadia National Park, and gathering with her sisters and nephews who summer on the Island
