Sarah Speare is the CEO and co-founder of Tootie’s Tempeh, a worker-owned cooperative in Biddeford. Tootie’s is the first commercial tempeh company in the US to ferment without plastic bags— a process that has already kept 140,000 bags out of landfills and oceans— and produces an award-winning, non-bitter tempeh.
