Victory Without Peace

by Scott Nearing
(Bull Thistle Press, 2005).
Written in 1947 at the end of World War II, “Victory Without Peace” is a pamphlet originally published by World Events. Scott lays out the power structure’s formula of “selling victory to the people”, creating Nationalist pride in military might, dehumanizing the enemy, and whipping up patriotism. The thesis is that while victory might bring glory and prove dominance, it doesn’t necessarily bring peace.
